What is Halal?

Halal is an Arabic term referring to what is ‘permissible’ under Islamic law. Non-permissible goods and actions are considered ‘haram’.

The halal food industry is a trillion dollar global market, serving nearly 2 billion Muslims living around the world. According to Business Wire, the halal food and beverage market is projected to reach US$3.9 trillion by 2027, with a double-digit annual growth rate between 2022-2027.

Halal Certification Services

The Process:

  • We work directly with food manufacturers to ensure proper certification of Halal products.  Producers and processors follow strict protocols from slaughter through packaging.  United Source One coordinates closely with Islamic Centers to ensure all documentation is in proper order and in compliance to minimize, or eliminate, complications with arrival of goods.
  • We provide a one-stop shop for all certification and documentation needs.  Once certified, suppliers provide their records to our Documentation Specialists.  Then the department prepares and coordinates all paperwork in advance of shipment for review with the importer and their assigned clearing agents. US1 facilities comply with halal standards in the distribution and shipment process.

Halal certification services are provided by U.S. Islamic Halal Centers approved by each importing Middle East country. Neither United Source One nor its producers and suppliers are authorized to certify meat and poultry products as Halal. That authority lies strictly with the Islamic centers.
